Official summary: “A young woman named Fuu is working as a waitress in a tea shop when she is abused by a band of samurai. She is saved by a mysterious rogue named Mugen and a young rōnin named Jin. … In return, Fuu asks them to travel with her to find “the samurai who smells of sunflowers”.

Our Pairing:  its hip, its funky. its samurai cutting down men laced with hip hop beats. Does it get any cooler? Samurai Champloo developed by Manglobe studios breaks all kinds of conventions. Keep your mind open when watching this because we’re in Edo period japan but hip-hop drives this show. it adds a uniqueness by subverting expectations. its violent, hip and a lot of what may have seen but never together. Only an equally unique wine that breaks the same industry conventions will do. We’re drinking the hip-hop infused wine from André Hueston Mack. OPP wine (Other People’s Pinot).

Rating: Three Star/Merlot anime: Not great, Not bad. Old reliable. We pick you up at the grocery store after a long day. We watch you after a long week.

What would you pair with Samuari Champloo?

  1. Nigiri Sake, chilled, and shaken so you get some of those dissolving rice hulls/shells/skins in every glass. That’s funky. Serve with fried firm tofu in olive oil with ginger and garlic.
