Ristorante Paradiso

“Dolce” - Italian for “sweet” Dolce are a category of dessert served usually after a hearty meal. Dolce is best paired with dessert wines. Dessert wines maintain a high level of residual sugar and can have a syrupy mouthfeel. The high sugar content in sweets works in balance with the high sugar content with dessert wines and can be enjoyed as an aperitif  or a nice singular treat!

Episode 3 features a ravioli based dish. Real ravioli can come in many varieties  including meat or cheese based but will usually start  with a deep red tomato based sauce. Best paired with- Try a Nebbiolo wine. A red wine grape from the Piedmont region of Italy. Nebbiolo based wines make a good entry point for red wines if you find Cabernet too bitter for your pallet.  Nebbiolo grapes often make lighter red wines and can even be chilled if you enjoy wines that are not sweet but not bone dry.

Bonus- Pay close attention to the background walls in Ristorante Paradiso bar scenes. The wines on the wall are real wines! Episode 3 features “Chianti Classico”- A dry red wine from the Chianti region in Tuscany, Italy.  In order for the wine to be labeled “Classico” it has to be made in a certain style and only with certain grapes by law. Chianti Classico is dry red wine(not sweet) that is usually paired with meat based dishes.
